Nora works from her studio home in Granville, Ohio creating fine art
watercolor paintings and intricate, elegant cross-stitch patterns.
Moving from sketch to painting to cross-stitch pattern, Nora builds on
her already amazing collection of designs while watching over her two
young sons Ian and Jack.
The subjects of Nora's Mirabilia designs are timeless women in
escapist, romantic settings - allowing the person who buys and
completes her cross-stitch patterns the same level of involvement that
a great romance novelist creates for the reader. The designs are
sophisticated and creative with a penchant for angels, queens, fairies,
mothers, lovers and other embodiments of the graceful woman. The births
of her sons also inspired a new line entitled Little Stitches depicting
various aspects of a child's most cherished years.
To maintain her almost endless thirst for inspiration, Nora creates
watercolor paintings as studies in gestural form. These watercolors
take only the emotive aspects of her subjects (usually flowers,
architectural pieces and garden buildings) and portray the inherent
beauty in everyday objects. Her work is well grounded in artistic
traditions, yet unique in its contemporary voice.
